Voters of the Joaquin ISD can cast their ballot early starting this tomorrow, Aug. 27, for the Sept. 13^th Tax Ratification Election. At the July board meeting, Joaquin ISD Trustees set a Maintenance & Operation tax rate of $1.17 and an Interest & Sinking tax rate of $0.4155 for a total tax rate of $1.5855 per $100 of appraised value. This total tax rate is two cents lower than last year’s rate. The increase in the M&O tax rate must be ratified by voters. Early voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 27 thru Sept. 9 at the Joaquin ISD Administration Building. On Election Day, Sept. 13, polling locations will be the Joaquin ISD Administration Building, and the Huxley Volunteer Fire Dept. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Questions can be directed to Superintendent Phil Worsham at 936-269-3128.
