Local Sports Round up 8/25/14; Meet the Riders at 7 p.m. tonight

Center Varsity Tennis team opened up their Fall season with a win over
Nacogdoches last week. The official score was 10 - 4, but with all extra matches played 19 - 6. The Riders were up 6 matches to 2 at the end of doubles. They had 13 wins and 4 losses in singles. The Varsity team will travel to Lufkin Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. start. The Seniors for the 2014-2015 Rider Tennis Team are: Adam Reeves, Alec Lucas, Chris Dunn, Dillon Reynolds, Kamden Lucas, Sheridan Cassell, Faith Lengl, Rylee Hudspeth, and Nathan Stuever. Coaches are Leon Dykes and Beth Nichols.

Meet the Riders will be held, at 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, at Roughrider Stadium. All Middle School and High School Athletic Programs will be recognized as well as the Middle School and High School Spirit Teams and Middle School and High School Bands. Don't forget, the 3rd Annual Purple Pride Cookout hosted by the CHS Cheerleaders will be held prior to the event from 4 to 6:30 p.m. You can get a burger, chips, dessert, and water for $7.

 

Meet the Dragons will be held tomorrow night, Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Shelbyville gym.


Girls' volleyball Tuesday, the Center Lady Riders are home to play Colmesneil, and the Timpson Lady Bears go to Karnack.

 

The Center Youth Football League will have sign-ups tomorrow, Tuesday, August 26th and Thursday, August 28th from 5-7:30pm. Sign-ups will also be held on Saturday, Aug. 30th from 10:00am-1:00pm. The last day to sign up will be August 30th. All sign-ups will be held in the Center Middle School Cafeteria. Be sure and bring a copy of your child's birth certificate. Sign up fees are $50 for flag and $80 for tackle. Ages 5-12 are allowed to play.

 

The high school football season kicks-off Friday night, and the local schedule includes the Center Roughriders at Waskom to last years' state semi-finalist. Center Broadcasting will have all the Rider action on 92.5 KXXE and online at cbc-radio.com with Rob Payne and Chris Watlington and the Rider Broadcast team. Also, the Shelbyville Dragons go to Linden-Kildare; the Timpson Bears will be in Tyler to play All Saints Episcopal; the Shelby County Game of the Week has the Tenaha Tigers at the Joaquin Rams. Don Wall will describe the action on Q-100 KQBB, and on cbc-radio.com. In addition, the San Augustine Wolves go to Garrison to play the Bulldogs; and the Logansport Tigers are playing in the DeSoto Parish Jamboree Friday night in Mansfield.
