Sports Update: Teams look good in first scrimmage action

In football scrimmage action last weekend, the Center Roughriders out scored Palestine 4 touchdowns to 1, with the Rider Defense reported to have played very well.

 

The Timpson Bears scored 5 times on Groveton Friday night, allowing one score in their first scrimmage.

 

The Shelbyville Dragons were in a four-way scrimmage with Anahuac, West Hardin and Deweyville, and we’ve been told the Dragon offense scored everytime, but once, and the defense only gave up one score.

 

It’s reported the Joaquin Rams looked good as they took on Huntington, with each teams scoring in the “live” quarter.

 

Tenaha won their controlled scrimmage with Harleton, 1-0, and also won live 10 min qtr 7-0.

 

In Garrison, the Bulldogs were said to have moved the ball pretty well and scored against Arp.

 

It's the final controlled scrimmages this week for local high school football. The Center Roughriders will be home at 5 p.m. Thursday night to play Tyler Brook Hill; the Tenaha Tigers go to New Diana Thursday; and the San Augustine Wolves go to Woodville Thursday. Friday's scrimmages have the Joaquin Rams at Colmesneil; the Timpson Bears head to West Rusk; and the Garrison Bulldogs are home to play Groveton.

 

The Logansport Tigers will be at Lakeside Friday night.
