Expectant mother loses life in two-vehicle accident Saturday

A two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon, between Center and Timpson, has taken the life of an expectant mother, while two others were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.

DPS Trooper Jade LaVergne investigated the crash on State Hwy. 87 north, six-miles north of Center in the Huber Community, which occurred about 2:25 p.m. His report says 24-year old Heather Elaine Jorgensen Green of Elkhart, a passenger in a 2009 Dodge Durango, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Pct. 5, Jim Powers.

Trooper LaVergne says a 2007 Ford Taurus driven by 16-year old Jeremy DeShannon Boykins of Shelbyville was headed south, when the vehicle, for unknown reason, crossed over the center line into the oncoming traffic, and struck the northbound Dodge, driven by 28-year old Christopher Brian Green of Elkhart, head-on.

Boykins was taken by ACE EMS to Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview where he received treatment, and according to family friends, was reported to have been released yesterday.

Meanwhile, Christopher Green was life-flighted to University Health in Shreveport. A family member says he has a number of broken bones and fractures, and both lungs are partially collapsed.

Heather Green was pregnant with the couple’s third child.

Funeral service for Heather Elaine Jorgensen Green is pending at Mangum Funeral Home.
