Campbell says he doesn't see Shelby County discussing immigration resolution

We told you earlier this week that one East Texas county had taken the initiative to pass an immigration resolution against housing, providing medical care and educating individuals crossing the border illegally.

Rusk County’s commissioners’ court passed the resolution Tuesday to make it the first county in this region to support the banning of services to illegal residents. Just keep in mind, this is not a law.

Shelby County Judge Rick Campbell tells us he doesn’t see passage of this type of immigration resolution happening here. He noted the real issue is securing our borders against terrorist before we start immigration reform.

Judge Campbell said he met recently with Gov. Rick Perry, and assured him he had the support of Shelby County in protecting our border.

The judge added immigration reform would not be on his agenda in the final four months of his term in office.
