18-wheeler gets stuck on railroad tracks in Timpson, freed with little damage

A few tense moments in Timpson Thursday morning when a tractor-trailer rig carrying bottled water became stuck on the railroad tracks at the Bremond Street crossing in town.

Timpson Chief of Police Kent Graham tells us the tractor truck had a flat tire on the rear axle which dropped the front of the trailer just enough, so that the landing gear came into contact with the pavement, deploying it fully, and forcing the rig to come to a stop on the tracks.

Chief Graham said the incident occurred around 9 a.m., and as a safety precaution, Union Pacific Railroad officials were notified of the situation so that any trains headed toward Timpson would be alerted.

A large wrecker was dispatched to the scene, and was able to move the rig from the tracks. There was no damage reported to the tracks.

Chief Graham said the truck was owned by JST Trucking from Ripley, Tennessee and was headed to Houston for a delivery of the water.
