Logger loses life in Panola County accident

Panola County officials are saying a logging accident has apparently taken the life of a Marion County man.

Authorities say 50-year old Jessie Wayne Gray appeared to have died from head injuries when a tree fell on him as he worked near County Road 151 in the Clayton Community Wednesday morning.

Co-workers became concerned when they hadn’t seen Gray or heard his chainsaw for about 10 minutes, that’s when they started looking for him and made the discovery.

Gray worked for String Fellow Logging out of Jefferson.

An autopsy was ordered by Panola County Justice of the Peace David Gray.
