Center Dixie Boys 14U Champs appreciate donations for World Series trip, back on streets today

The Center Dixie Boys 14U state baseball champions are ready to make the drive to Bossier City later this week as they prepare for the World Series. Opening ceremonies will be at 7 p.m. Friday night at Century Link Center, with Center’s opening game at 7 p.m. Saturday night against host Bossier City at Tinsley Park. Head Coach Jason Mitchell says the community has shown a lot of support and it’s very much appreciated. He noted the boys will be attending the Lions Club and Rotary Club meetings this week to talk baseball.

Mitchell says the team is required to stay in Bossier City during the tournament, so that’s an expense, coupled with the purchase of new uniforms the costs can add up. He said the support shown last Friday was great. The team will be back on the streets today for a road block from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., in addition to set up at Wal-Mart at 2 p.m. Mitchell adds whether it’s this team, another or any group trying to raise funds, Center has always stepped up to the plate.

This makes the third World Series this group of players has played in. They’ve gone undefeated in state tournament action each year.

You can find the double-elimination World Series tournament bracket on our website, just go over the cbc-radio.com, and you’ll see the link of the front page. Mitchell extends an invitation for you to come out to the games and cheer on the Center Dixie Boys state champs.
