Main Street places benches at San Augustine County Courthouse

The downtown courthouse square in San Augustine is seeing a cosmetic change thanks to the Main Street distinction.

Building store fronts are being reverted back to original design and the landscape is following suit. The latest effort was the placement of six all-steel benches donated by the Main Street committee recently.

Board members Marshall McMillan and Betty Olgesbee requested permission from the San Augustine County Commissioners’ Court to put the benches at the courthouse. They said the gift was approved by the Texas Historical Commission. Cost of the six benches is $1,200 each.
