Center Dixie Boys 14U Champs seeking donations for World Series trip

The Center Dixie Boys 14U undefeated state champs are headed to the World Series on Aug. 2 in Bossier City. Members and their families are taking donations towards travel expenses for the tournament. If you're interested in making a donation, make checks payable to Center Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 991, Center. Corporate sponsors will receive banner recognition with their names on the League Banner. After a rain-out last Friday, the boys will be out around the Center Square accepting donations this Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be a meeting of the Shelby County Youth Football League at 6 p.m., tomorrow night, Thursday, at Center's Pizzeria. A representative from each town will need to be in attendance.

Piney Woods Outreach Center will be hosting a back-to-school/youth basketball skills camp on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The camp is open to children between 8-15 years. In addition to the basketball camp, there will be a school supply drive benefit that will help collect and donate school supplies to needy families in the area. Contact Marquita Garrett at 936-591-0848 or Keith Suell at 214-290-6268. If you’re interested in making a school supply donation or monetary contribution to that purchase, contact Piney Woods Outreach Center at 936-591-0308.
