We have some World Series champions in Nacogdoches County, as the Nacogdoches U-8 All Stars defeated Tennessee yesterday at the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series in Texarkana, Ark. to take the title. The Nacogdoches all stars went 7-1 at the series.

There will be a meeting of the Shelby County Youth Football League at 6 p.m., this Thursday, July 24 at Center's Pizzeria. A representative from each town will need to be in attendance.

Piney Woods Outreach Center will be hosting a back-to-school/youth basketball skills camp on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The camp is open to children between 8-15 years. In addition to the basketball camp, there will be a school supply drive benefit that will help collect and donate school supplies to needy families in the area.
