Burger fundraiser Saturday in Haslam to benefit young cancer victim

The Joaquin community is coming together on Saturday to help out a former resident as he battles cancer. A hamburger fundraiser will be held at 11 a.m. at the Word of Faith Outreach on Hwy. 84 in Haslam for 10-year old Max Matlock of Marshall. Max's parents are Shane and Katherine Brewton Matlock. Family member Stephen Ewing says Max is fighting a courageous battle daily against a tough form of the dreaded disease, Acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Ewing says as one would expect, there's a lot of financial and emotional distress that comes with having a young family member fight cancer.

He added Mike Dickerson will be cooking burgers for for a $6 donation, you'll get a burger, chips, drink and dessert, all going to the Max Matlock Medical Fund. That's at 11 Saturday morning at Word of Faith Outreach in Haslam.
