McDonalds coming to San Augustine, to be co-branded with new convenience store

The "Golden Arches" are coming to San Augustine. City Manager Bruce Milstead confirmed for Center Broadcasting Friday that a McDonalds restaurant will be opening in San Augustine next year.

Milstead said dirt work has started on construction of a new co-branded 24-hour convenience store by Rudy's Operating Company, owned by Denny Oil in Nacogdoches, to include the popular fast-food outlet.

The store is being built on Hwy. 96 north, and Milstead said he was advised that construction will take around eight months.

Another big construction project expected to start in the next six weeks in a total make-over of the Hwy. 96 and 21 traffic intersection  or circle. Milstead says TxDOT had done extensive traffic studies, and their decision is based on safety. He says the circle will go away and the intersection will become a four-way stop.

Milstead added rehab work is also planned on over 30 city streets that's being funded through Hurricane Ike Grant money to the tune of a million dollars.
