Dixie League Tournament continues Center teams bow out, Joaquin, SA still alive

Play began Saturday in four different Dixie Youth Baseball tournaments in Center, including the 10-year old AAA South Regional Tournament and 12-year old Major Tight Base Tournament, and the District 9-year old and 10-year old tournaments. The Center 10 and 12 year old teams were eliminated over the weekend.

However, San Augustine and Joaquin 10-year old teams are still alive, and both have games today. San Augustine beat Tri-Cities, 10-2 last night, with their next game starting at 2 this afternoon.

Thanks to Stephen Ewing for this report on the Joaquin 9-10 year old All Stars. Joaquin began play Saturday morning, dropping a 16-11 decision to West Rusk. They bounced back to knock off Chapel Hill 15-8, behind a solid pitching performance by Bennett Anglin. They used the momentum from that win to power a 9-3 victory later in the day over Fairfield. Maddux Hutchins picked up the win on the hill.

The Joaquin All Stars will be back on the diamond at noon today, taking on the loser of the West Rusk/ Onalaska matchup.

There will be a meeting of the Shelby County Youth Football League at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 24 at Center's Pizzeria. A representative from each town will need to be in attendance.
