Timpson preparing for annual Frontier Days event; gospel singing Thursday night

The Timpson area is gearing up for its annual Frontier Day celebration Thursday through the weekend. The Sonny Tippett Memorial Gospel Singing will officially start events at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce volunteer, Marilyn Corder says top-notch performers will headline the show.

 

Among those performing will be Grounded, The Calvary Boys, Broken Vessel and Weston and Kristi Henson.

 

Ms. Corder says pre-sale tickets for the concert are $8 and available at the Timpson Public Library, Timpson-Tenaha News and King’s Nursery in Tenaha. Tickets are $10 at the door. The singing will have also pay tribute to the late Aubrey King, who Ms. Corder says was instrumental in reviving the concert.

 

Also Thursday night, the all-u-can ride carnival will get underway at 6 p.m. till 10 p.m. on the Timpson Square, as armbands are $15 in advance and available at the Timpson Public Library, or $18 the night of. There’s entertainment Friday night with Curtis Daniel and Dale Cummings downtown, and a full-day of events Saturday starting with the parade at 10 a.m. Featured Saturday will be gun-fight re-enactments, a laser light show, and street dance with “A Pack of Strays. By the way, Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce President Paul Smith tells us, Marilyn Corder has been named Grand Marshall of the Timpson Frontier Days Parade this year by The Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce. Smith said Ms. Corder was chosen because of her hard work and dedication towards making Timpson Frontier Days a great success. He added, Ms. Corder Marilyn takes on many challenges that have made Timpson Frontier Days a favorite event for the Timpson community. Smith said, “We thank Marilyn for her involvement and dedication in the past and look forward to many years to come.”
