A Shelbyville man lost his life in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday night in the Dreka Community.

 

Texas Department of Public Safety is reporting, 33-year old Jeremy Rick Sims of Shelbyville was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Witnesses say Sims was traveling south on FM 139, north of County Road 2536, in a Ford F-150 pickup at an unsafe speed, when he left the roadway, struck a number of trees, before going head-on in a tree, and being ejected from the vehicle, landing in the woods.

 

The fatal accident was reported around 8:45 p.m.

 

Shelby County Justice of the Peace Burt Furlow held an inquest at the scene.

 

Funeral service for Jeremy Sims will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Watson & Sons Chapel in Center, with burial at Rather Cemetery in Shelbyville.
