UPDATE: Man attacked was cancer patient, said Hudson acted "bizarre"

We want to bring you up-to-date on a story involving the arrest of a Center native on Monday, who’s also a Nacogdoches businessman.

The man assaulted by 59-year old Willie Hudson, outside Hudson’s business, Nacogdoches Hardware & Rental, was a SFA employee, 54-year old Mark Porter, who is the technical director for the SFA School of Theatre.

Porter said Hudson approached him concerning the way he was parked outside the back of Cole Hall, which fronts Hudson’s store.

The Daily Sentinel is saying Porter was diagnosed with cancer over three years ago, and said he received hospital treatment for bruises to his face following the attack on Monday.

Porter also reported Hudson threatened to ram his truck with his truck, and then he fell on the ground and claimed to have a back injury, which Porter said, was really bizarre. Porter said the episode lasted half an hour.

Hudson also reportedly choked Porter. He said he did not retaliate, but called 911. Hudson was arrested for robbery, after taking Porter’s keys. He posted a $10,000 bond Tuesday.

Nacogdoches Police say Hudson will not be charged with aggravated assault because no deadly weapon was used and Porter did not suffer serious bodily injury.

The police department says they have responded to 50 calls in the downtown area near Hudson’s store in the past nine months.
