Center Firemen holding fundraiser for fellow fireman

We told you a few weeks ago about a local man that’s in Houston awaiting a double lung transplant. Kevin O’Connor and his wife, Saundra have temporarily relocated to Houston and will have to remain there for approximately a year.

O’Connor had a heart attack in 2008, and since has been diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. There’s no cure or treatment, so therefore the need for a double lung transplant. O’Connor is not working, and with day-to-day expenses and mounting medical bills, they’re in need.

The Center Volunteer Fire Department is asking Shelby County citizens to come together and help support one of their own. O’Connor had been a Center fireman for 10 years, during that time he also served as the department’s training officer. Center Volunteer Fireman are selling chances on three guns to be given away with all proceeds going to the O’Connors.

You can contact any Center Fireman to purchase tickets or give donations. The tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Tickets are being sold now through Aug. 3. Tickets are also available at the Center Broadcasting Company studios and at the fire department.
