The City of San Augustine is gearing up for a population boom this Friday night as The Bass Federation and FLW's Student Angler Federation High School Fishing Open holds a "block party" downtown to kick-off the bass fishing tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn. Last year's tournament brought in teenagers from five states and raised over $20,000 in scholarships.
Terry Sympson of Jackson Hill Marina says a lot of activites are planned for Friday night.
Saturday's event will be held from 3 to 8 at Broaddus High School for a boat and tackle show, and high school anglers will take off from Cassels-Boykin Park off Hwy. 147 at 6 a.m. Sunday for the tournament. Weigh-in will be held at the Bill and Emily Shelton Pavillion at 3 and is open to the public.
