Free gospel concert kicks off Joaquin Centennial Celebration Friday night

Joaquin is kicking off its Centennial Celebration tomorrow night with a free gospel concert at 6 o'clock in the Joaquin High School Gym. An area group, The Stanleys, along with Joaquin's own Trey Wilson will entertain. Centennial Chairperson Kathy Baker reminds you the first clue in the $500 treasure hunt will also be given at Friday night's gospel concert.

 

Saturday's schedule will include a parade at 10 a.m., vendor booths, a Jaws of Life Demonstration and BBQ brisket plate sale by the Joaquin Fire Dept. at 11, in addition to games for the kids, local singers performing from 12 to 2, as well as recognitions and awards at 1 p.m. A cake walk at 3 p.m. and the celebration will move to the Logansport Riverfront at 7 p.m. for a free concert from Sherry Lee, and the group Windstorm. The Centennial fireworks show is slated for at 9 p.m. For more information on the City of Joaquin's 100th anniversary, contact city office at 936-269-3021.

 

By the way, centennial T-shirts are $12 each, the caps are $10 and Centennial cookbooks are also $10, and they're available now at City Hall and will be available for purchase at the celebration.
