DETEC customers deal with no power on Saturday

Saturday was the warmest day of the season so far as the mercury got up to around 93 degrees, but it was not the coolest for a number of Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative customers who had to deal with no power.

The outage was primarily confined to Nacogdoches County, where customers were without electricity for around 12 hours due to a major transmission line issue.

The co-op’s Brittney Johnson says the outage was in the Garrison, Central Heights and Shady Grove areas of Nacogdoches County, and was traced back to a failed insulator. Power was lost around 4 p.m. Saturday and was fully restored by 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
