Center City Council expected to approve local match for sidewalk renovation

The Center City Council has a couple of meeting on tap for this afternoon.

Starting at 4, there will be a special workshop session to discuss a potential solid waste grant and preliminary budget discussion.

The council will meet in regular session at 5 to discuss and possibly approve several agenda items. Among those will be an application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Texas Capital Fund Downtown Revitalization Program Grant. City Manager Chad Nehring says there’s a local match of $50,000 that approval has already been given by the Street Economic Development Corporation for sidewalk renovation along Cora, Shelbyville and San Augustine Streets.

In addition, the city council’s expected to approve several resolutions needed for HUD grand funding, as well as adopting Fiscal Year 2015 Proposed Budget Calendar; and renewal of the Employee Health Insurance Benefit with the Texas Municipal League.

Center City Council will also approve a request to close several streets on the morning of Saturday, July 12 for the annual Center Rotary Club’s What-A-Melon Crawl-5K Run/Walk. In other business, the council will approve re-appointments to the Center Planning & Zoning Commission, and to the Center Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 Board, which would fill the position held by late councilman Charles Byndom.
