Cowboy Up, Shelby County! SCSP Rodeo kicks off tonight at 7:30 p.m.; 2013 World Champion calf roper Hanchey to rope

The 61st annual Shelby County Sheriff's Posse PRCA Rodeo kicks off at 7:30 tonight at the Shelby County Expo Center for a two-night performance. The rodeo is sponsored again by Wright Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Center, and general manager Jeff Baker says the dealership is ready to rodeo!

 

There will be a radio remote broadcast from 11-1 today on Q-100 KQBB from Wright C-D-J. Rodeo personalities will be there, along with the queen's court, plus free hot dogs and refreshments!

 

Tickets at the gate are $5, and you’ll be able to save a dollar Saturday night at the gate by just wearing your western hat. Kids 6 and under get in free. There will be a calf scramble each night for kids 10 and under with cash prizes.

 

Entertainment is being provided by three different award-winning East Texas Equestrian Drill Teams. The Rustlers, the 4-8 year olds; The Young Guns, the 8-14 year olds; and The Roughriders, age 15 & up.

By the way, if you keep up with the PRCA, the name Shane Hanchey will be familiar. The 2013 World Champion Calf Roper from Sulphur, Louisiana will be roping at tonight's rodeo performance in Center.
