More information available after arrest of duo on burglary charge

There’s been some additional information released on the apprehension of two home burglary suspects in Dallas last week responsible for possibly several crimes in Shelby County.

The couple, 46-year old James T. Higginbotham and 41-year old Kandy Nichols were arrested in Dallas last Friday after Higginbotham was identified from a photo taken in a surveillance video from a residence in the Campti area. The vehicle the couple was in was registered to Higginbotham’s dad.

Investigators are saying jewelry taken from the home of Ray and Kerri Griffin was pawned at a Dallas pawn shop. Also, the duo was reportedly bringing property stolen in the Dallas area here to pawn.

It’s also being reported Higginbotham and Nichols had Shelby County ties, and while visiting, would burglarize residents practically door-to-door to see what can be stolen.

Investigators believe the arrest may have clear up a number of home burglaries in the Campti, Sardis and FM 417 East area near Shelbyville.
