SCSP Rodeo to feature new arena announcer

Rodeo fans will be treated to a new voice in the arena at this year’s 61st annual Shelby County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo as veteran announcer and east Texas native Racer Botkin makes his first appearance in Shelby County. Boo Klein says Botkin is a familiar PRCA announcer in this region. The Longview native recently announced the Jacksonville rodeo, and has done a number of other high-profile events in his career. When Botkin broke into the business 20 years ago he was the youngest announcer in the PRCA at age 23.

Rodeo performances will be at 7:30 Friday and Saturday night at the Shelby County Expo on Hwy. 7 east of Center. Tickets are just $5 pre-sale and at the gate, and available at Boles Feed, Triple J Feed and Wright Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Center. Kids 6 and under get in free. Saturday night, if you wear your western hat, tickets are just $4 at the gate. T
