Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers seeking info on hit-and-run of jogger

Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in finding the driver responsible in a hit-and-run of a jogger along North University Drive last Friday morning.

According to a press release from the Nacogdoches Police Department, the woman was jogging south on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of North University Drive when the accident occurred between 9:10 a.m. and 9:20 a.m. The woman was found just off the roadway a bit north of the commuter parking lot at SFA with a broken shoulder blade and broken ribs. She’s reported to be OK.

Authorities believe the woman was struck by an unknown southbound vehicle. To add a bit of better luck to this incident, a stray dog that was running with the woman began to act erratically after the woman was hit, running in and out of traffic, circling the woman, barking, as to protect her, which alerted investigators to her location.

According to Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers, the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run accident should have damage to its passenger side and/or damage passenger-side rearview mirror.

Anyone with information should contact the Nacogdoches Police Department. Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or grand jury indictment of the person driving the vehicle in the incident. Call 936-560-INFO (4636), or submit a tip to Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers Website, or via the organization’s Facebook page.
