Tenaha City Council to address $38,400 TCEQ Fine

At a special called meeting this afternoon, the Tenaha City Council will discuss transferring $38,400 from the General Budget Tax Account to the water account to pay a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality fine. Mayor Orinthia Johnson tells us an oversight in the water department’s daily maintenance records, and not notifying the city’s water customer’s water quality issues lead to the fine.

 

In addition, the Tenaha City Council will hear from two guest, Frank Polley of East Texas Regional Landfield, and from Van Bush, who will address the council on 911 addressing in the city.

 

An update on the city hall move to the Tenaha Municipal Building will also be received. Mayor Johnson said that move should take place in a few days.

 

In addition, the council will go into executive session to discuss the job duties of Mayor Orinithia Johnson, City Secretary Doyce Bailey and water department employee Wes Wheeler.
