Despite the Timpson City Council rejecting a proposal to have wheeled garbage carts provided for residents at a minimal monthly charge, one Timpson property owner has decided to foot the expense of the containers for residents of his mobile home community on Timpson Street.

Frank Barnes had Piney Woods Sanitation deliver 13 of the 95-gallon carts to his park this week. Mayor Debra Smith said the city had been receiving calls on a regular basis concerning spilled and strewn garbage at the park due to stray animals and overfilled open containers for some time now. She said Barnes took it upon himself to help remedy the situation.

Believing it would be good for the town, Mayor Smith said she had approached the council to add the same garbage carts for all residents for just an extra $1.50 a month to their monthly santitation service, but could not get the council to OK it.

She added thought that Piney Woods Sanitation will provide cart service for any resident of Timpson at a fee of $2.50 per month billed directly to the customer, even though the council did not agree. The residential garbage monthly rate in Timpson is $11.45 a month.
