(Longview, Texas)—LeTourneau University is launching a fully online program for registered nurses already working in the health care field to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, in as little as 12 months.
The online format is cohort-based that runs year-round with seven-week courses. It will fit within the schedule of a working professional and will give an edge in the job market. The degree prepares students in critical thinking and communication training that are key for preparing for leadership positions in a variety of settings from hospitals, homecare situations, case management and ambulatory care.
“Studies show that patient care outcomes improve when nurses have a BSN degree,” said LETU Dean of Nursing Dr. Kimberly Quiett. “Many hospitals and healthcare organizations require a mandatory BSN within five years of hiring. The Institute of Medicine has recommended that 80 percent of nurses have a BSN by 2020.”
LETU trains nurses from a Christian worldview to see patients as created in the image of God, worthy of excellent care, and not as just a room number or a disease.
LETU nursing students have a 100% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), which is a measure of how well nurses are prepared to provide safe, quality care for health care consumers. Experienced faculty are dedicated to preparing exceptional nurses with personalized instruction. LETU currently has a 100% graduate placement rate and is approved to offer the BSN by the Texas Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on College Nursing Education (CCNE).
LeTourneau University is the Christian polytechnic university where educators engage students to nurture Christian virtue, develop competency and ingenuity in their professional fields, integrate faith and work, and serve the local and global community. LETU offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs across a range of disciplines and delivery models at LETU’s residential campus in Longview, Texas, hybrid options at centers in the Dallas and Houston areas and fully online programs.
