The U-I-L State Track and Field Meet was held last weekend in Austin, and a number of medals brought back to east Texas, including several golds.
Shelbyville Lady Dragon Keanna Osby wraps-up her elite track career with two gold medals in Class 2A. The Northwestern State University signee won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.17, and the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.50. Osby has qualified for the state meet all four years of high school. She’s brought home four gold and three silver medals from Austin.
In boys’, Joaquin sophomore Connor Bragg took the state championship in the 2A Long Jump with a jump of 22’-6.75”. Reports state it’s the first gold medal won by a Ram thin-clad in 32 years. Doug Owens was the last in 1986, also in the long jump.
The San Augustine boys 4 x 200-meter relay are the 2A state champions with a time of 1:29.2 seconds. Meanwhile the San Augustine 4 x 400- meter relay took the silver medal with a time of 3:24.71 seconds.
The Joaquin 4 x 100-meter sprint relay team was third in Class 2A with a time of 42.61. Ram senior Keith Johnson also brought home a bronze medal in the in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.26.
The San Augustine Lady Wolves hauled-in a couple of medals in Class 2A, the 4 x 200-meter relay team won silver with a time of 1:44.36, and the S-A 4 x 100-meter relay took bronze with 49.58.
