Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle wanted to share one of our recent events.  On
October 31, 2017, DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office hosted a day of fun for
DeSoto Parish Special needs students.  Several times a year DeSoto Parish
Sheriff's Office brings special needs students from each school in the
Parish together at our training center for music, dancing, arts, kickball,
crafts, and food.  This is a coordinated effort between DeSoto Parish
School's, DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office, and The Circle of Hope non-profit
organization.   There are many special needs individuals across DeSoto
Parish that enjoy the company of others but are often overlooked.  Sheriff
Arbuckle and the staff of the Sheriff's Office are committed to this cause
and make every effort to visit the group homes, deliver Christmas presents,
and support numerous other events.  Those events include things such as hay
rides, Easter egg hunts, and Mardi Gras dances.  Our average attendance for
an event such as this is between 80-100 special needs friends.  There is
nothing more rewarding than a smile or hug from one of our friends.  We are
thankful for our partner relationships that allow us be part of something
bigger than ourselves.
